KISS…..keep it simple stupid……

December 9, 2011

I read an article the other day that really seemed to nail a very large percentage of the republican party. This persons theory was that  republicans see things in very simple terms of black and white. I thought about it awhile and it made a lot of sense, we know that some people are left brain, while others are right. So why couldn’t the way we see things be a decisive factor in our political beliefs. If we look at some of the posts or even the GOP debates, we see where simplistic answers often are the ones that get the most applause.  Take for example the premise of someone breaking into someone elses car. You would think that calling the police, having them arrested and  prosecuted would be the answer but , no, the correct answer would be shoot them. Plain simple and to the point…..You see where I’m going here? Perhaps they are wired to see things in their simplest forms, no confusion, no grey areas, just simple uncluttered solutions. We sometimes hear that it needs to fit on a bumper sticker for them to understand it. Might be more truth here than we know. Take gun control, abortion, taxes,…..pick a favorite. Then ask what their stance is, say abortion. The answer is NO. The don’t even want to clutter their heads with questions of the womans choice in cases of rape or health risk to the mother…..it’s just NO! Gun control is easy, even after shootings involving large unnecessary clips that hold more ammo than any hunter or sportsman would ever need, the question on banning just the use of such clips gets the simple answer…NO!

I often get frustrated when trying to explain a factual point, only to find that I have wasted my breath by over filling their brains with needless facts that only confuse the debate. I have to remind myself to take things back to their primal forms, good/bad, happy/sad, death/life, and don’t make the point very long either because they often have made up their minds in the first sentence. Just like a child with a short attention span, they can only be held attentive for a few seconds, then they will change course to a set in stone point that they have in store a fall back position. Remember these points, and perhaps it will save you from busting a blood vessel the next time you dare to take on a republican ditto head or the very simplistic tea baggers.

For all those with Ribbons on your cars…..

The more things change the more they stay the same….This could have been written yesterday.

“These economic royalists complain that we seek to overthrow the institutions of America. What they really complain of is that we seek to take away their power. Our allegiance to American institutions requires the overthrow of this kind of power. In vain they seek to hide behind the Flag and the Constitution. In their blindness they forget what the Flag and the Constitution stand for. Now, as always, they stand for democracy, not tyranny; for freedom, not subjection; and against a dictatorship by mob rule and the over-privileged alike.” (FDR)

How often do we see those that invoke the Flag and the Constitution at the drop of a hat…just because you wave a Flag or call yourself a Patriot does not make it so, it’s the spirit (selfless act) of giving of yourself for others rights that makes you a Patriot not the Flag waving and talk.

The Need for Division

January 23, 2010

Lately I’ve noticed when talking to friends at work with extremely differing political views from mine, that there are quite a few things that we agree on. Certain issues like less pervasive government and campaign finance problems are agreed upon by both parties across the board . How is this possible if both political sides agree, then one would think that these issues would be a slam dunk. But one needs first to look at who is actually pulling the strings on this puppet, yes we do vote our law makers into office but don’t be fooled that is where our influence stops. At this point the special interest groups and their lobbyist’s take over. If you understand who is calling the shots then it is clear why none of the policies that we the people would like to see ever see the light of day. Most of the legislation that gets acted on is far left or far right-wing stuff, which furthers the divide and causes more and more hate between the people. Like the current Health Care Reform bill being legislated now by one side with absolutely no help or votes from the right. You will hear it said by Republicans that this legislation was rammed down their throats without any advice from the right, but remember that the first committee that formed the shape of the bill was made up of 3 republicans and 3 democrats… kinda of strange for a party with overwhelming majority’s in both houses. And remember that Single Payer (what the President was elected to provide) was not even allowed to come to the table. Regardless of whether this legislation passes or not, its the divide that will come one way or the other. I believe that these subtle moves assure that the status-quo is maintained for the insurance companies and big business. We are in fact being played by big money that wants to deepen the divide among the people. I believe that is why we are seeing more people being moved to groups like the tea-partiers even though this group was formed by wealthy families like Dick Armey and big Oil they have since been strengthened by more moderate factions. More and more people have become disillusioned by their party and the lack of progress for the common man. Big business’s only hope is to keep us fighting among each other while they slowly stack the deck in their favor.

Not a mistake

January 9, 2010

Time after time the right-wing tries to rewrite their own history and the media is allowing it to happen. The most recent case was Rudy Giuliani, who stated on Network television that we had No domestic attacks under Bush, but we’ve had one under Obama. This is the man who became a household name after 911 by making a political living off of the disaster. Now we are supposed to believe he made a misstatement or gaffe, I don’t think so, this and others are politically calculated attempts to erase the public’s memory of any and all things bad that happened under the Bush administration. This is not an isolated case either, Dana Perino, Bush’s former White House press Secretary has made the same claim on Sean Hannity’s show on the Fox network, of course she wasn’t called out for it there, since Sean never questions anything that comes out of fellow ideologue’s mouth. But in the case of Rudy on Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos who interviewed Rudy let this go by without question? This “rewriting of history” as I call it is occurring more and more on the so-called mainstream television networks without redaction or revisions. The Right has their Propaganda machine in Fox as does the left with MSNBC, but to allow these out and out LIES and I do mean lies they aren’t misstatements or mistakes, to creep into the mainstream news is an outrage and needs to be addressed. Another bunch is the Cheney’s, with every breathe they take, Dick Cheney and his daughter try to further blur our memories of what happened just a few short years back. Do they take us for brainless illiterate fools? We report you decide!

The Republicans put a halt to Planet Earth….

January 5, 2010

Well not exactly. But their continued straight across the board NO votes in congress have put a halt to everything else. They continue to be rejectionist’s on every political issue regardless of its worth, just to try and make the current administration look weak. This might seem like a good political tactic but for you and me it has put our health and lives at risk. They are currently blocking security positions that require congressional approval. And then Dick Cheney has the gaul to runs his mouth about the administration not keeping the country safe. The political process is broken when the minority party can hold up the will of the people. And yes the will of the people was the majority vote that put Obama in office, and did elect him to pass Health Care Reform. Cheney has also stated that Obama does not believe we are at war…..then why did the President increase the current troop count? I’m tired of the right-wing party that allowed 911 to happen on their watch, after numerous warnings, to now criticize the Democrats for trying to bail the country out of messes they (Republicans) caused. We need to contact our Senators and demand change in the amount of votes it takes and the rules that allow the peoples will to be hijacked.

Freedom?

December 28, 2009

The mark of a free country is its ability to question its Government without fear of reprisal. But lately I see this right being slowly eroded. But I’m not really sure who is squashing this freedom or what their true agenda is. I was enraged when the Dixie Chicks were almost ran out-of-town for simply saying they were ashamed that George W Bush was from Texas. The right-wing media drug them through the mud and back, claiming they were un-American for even questioning our president. They stood strong and continued to question even the WMD’s, ( shame on them). Those weapons had to exist, Dick Cheney said so! Now the same people who found it so unquestionable to not agree with the president are commonly found at tea parties carrying signs with the current president dressed as Adolf Hitler. If it’s not alright to question the Government for one party but ok for the other, then something very wrong has happened. For any group to suppress the others right to question that power is wrong, and we as a people are heading down a very bad road. For our government to work we MUST have at least two opposing sides to question and keep the other honest. Our Political system is set up with a system of checks and balances, and for it to work WE THE PEOPLE also need those checks and balances.  Even though we would all like it to be one-sided (in our political parties favor) you can see how this would quickly become a corrupt system. Like most things  good and evil, ying and yang, their has to be opposing views and we as a people need to stand up and fight these media or any other groups that encourage such tactics.

Basic flow

December 27, 2009

This is my Political rant space to give me a place to vent my frustrations about our broken Political machine. All views are my own and no apologies for misrepresentations or hurt feelings. after all Fox News never apologizes either. I was using Facebook for this but feel I was causing those that really don’t care, to have to listen to my views….If your reading this now then you choose to and can leave at anytime. I do encourage opposing views unlike some people who tend to delete opinions that don’t agree with their own.
